ILS Approach
1. Load the Runway 29R ILS approach for KFAT
into the flight plan. ‘Vectors to Final’ is selected
for the transition. Upon being given vectors
from ATC, set the Selected Heading to the
heading given by ATC. and press the
HDG
key.
The autopilot turns the aircraft to the desired
heading.
2. Turn the
HDG
knob to set the Heading Bug to
comply with ATC vectors, as requested.

3. In preparation for the approach and at the
pilot’s discretion, tune the localizer frequency,
then set the CDI to LOC by pressing the
CDI
softkey.
4. When cleared for the approach, press the
APR
key. ‘LOC’ and ‘GS’ appear in white in the
roll axis and pitch axis modes armed fields,
respectively. The autopilot will calculate when
to begin the turn to intercept the final approach
course.
5. From this point, the autopilot flies the ILS. At
the Decision Height, press the
AP DISC
button
and land the aircraft, or press the
GA
button
to execute a missed approach.
